Week Ahead: Dems Debate in Detroit, Trump Signs 9/11 Bill

July 29, 2019

The House is on recess through Sept. 9. The Senate is expected to vote on 3 veto messages that would block President Trump’s emergency arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, although it is not expected to have the two-thirds majority needed to override Trump’s vetoes. They will also vote to pass the Trump-Pelosi budget deal. President Trump on Monday will participate in a signing ceremony for H.R. 1327, an act to permanently authorize the Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund. On Tuesday, Trump will give a speech at the 400th anniversary of the First Representative Legislative Assembly in Jamestown, Virginia. On Wednesday, Trump will meet with President Khaltmaagiin Battulga of Mongolia. He’ll finish his week on Thursday traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a campaign rally.
