The Top 7 Biggest Liberals Running for Congress in 2018
If the 2020 Democratic presidential jockeying already feels like an all-out race to the left, the 2018 House midterm races are a kind of proving ground for the left-wing policies that will become ubiquitous to Americans in the next two years. Medicare for All, Abolish ICE, repealing the tax cuts. Even if you’re not paying close attention, you likely already know the rallying cries.
AR Intel took a deep dive into the 2018 midterm congressional races to identify who are some of the biggest liberals running this cycle. A couple are from traditionally blue states (California and Illinois), a couple from purple states (Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), and some are from states you might never expect (Texas and Kansas).

AR Intel Week Ahead: 10-15-18
With just three weeks until Election Day, debate season is in full gear in House and Senate races. Senate debates for Arizona, Missouri, Nevada, and Wisconsin are all taking place this week, along with key House races in Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, and Nebraska, among many others.
Meanwhile, President Trump is hitting the road on behalf of candidates across the country. He’s in Florida Monday, surveying damage done to the panhandle coast by Hurricane Michael, and then handing out the medal of honor on Wednesday. He’ll hold rallies in Montana and Arizona later in the week.

OFA Just Announced 27 “Priority” Districts for 2018. How Does That Stack Up to CLF?
Organizing For Action (OFA), the remnants of former President Obama’s campaign operation, announced this week that it is “prioritizing 27 districts” currently held by Republicans.
“OFA volunteer teams will organize in each district to amplify support on the ground for candidates who will actually fight for their constituents,” a statement from OFA read.
The full list of districts includes several where Donald Trump did better than Hillary Clinton. It does not include all the seats held by Republicans in districts where Clinton beat Trump, which Democrats tend to see as their best opportunities for pick-ups in November.
What exactly “prioritizing” means is unclear. What’s clearer is what’s happening on the other side of the aisle. Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), the super PAC closely associated with Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), appears to be beating the Democrats at their own game.

Meet the Left-Wing Liberal Who Just Cost Democrats a House Seat in Nebraska
Kara Eastman narrowly defeated former Rep. Brad Ashford (D-NE) on Tuesday in a major win for the party’s left-wing, liberal die-hards. Ashford, who represented the district from 2015-2017, lost to now-Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) in 2016. Eastman will face Bacon in the general election this November.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) earlier this year named Ashford in its “Red to Blue” program, in which they announce top seats they want to flip in the upcoming election cycle. Eastman’s fringe campaign upended those plans with her win this week.
Immediately political prognosticators reversed their rulings. Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball had previous called the district a “toss up,” when it was thought Ashford would be the Democrat nominee. After Eastman’s win and sensing how out of step she is for Nebraska’s Second Congressional District, they moved the seat to “leans Republican.”
AR Intel obtained tracking video of Eastman at several events in the weeks and months leading up to the Nebraska primary. To see that video, become an AR Intel Insider by signing up for a free 7-day trial today!

30 Days Of Crucial Democratic House Primaries
The next thirty days will provide key answers for Democrats’ attempts to take back the House, as more than a dozen states hold primaries and runoffs to determine general election nominees. Will the DCCC’s preferred candidates survive primary challenges from progressives? Will Democrats even have a candidate on the ballot come November?
One thing is for certain, as these primaries come to a close, they will only become nastier, more divisive, and a bigger problem for Nancy Pelosi and House leadership.
