NATIONAL

The Hill: “Democratic Super PACS Set To Target Trump Amid 2020 Primary Race: Report” (The Hill, 6/16/19)

President Donald Trump raised nearly $25 million in campaign contributions in the 24 hours after he launched his reelection bid, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee said. (Politico, 6/19/19)

  • The RNC announced that it raised $14.6 million in May, a record total for the month in a non-presidential election year, and ended the period with $37 million in the bank. (Bloomberg, 6/20/19)

  • The DNC raised $6.9 million in May and has $8.3 million on hand. (Politico, 6/21/19)

The Wall Street Journal: “Tim Scott Launches Effort To Recruit Minority GOP Candidates For Congress” (The Wall Street Journal, 6/19/19)


PRESIDENTIAL

Former Vice President Joe Biden said that his campaign had amassed 360,000 donors with an average contribution of $55, which would indicate he has raised nearly $20 million for his presidential bid. (The New York Times, 6/18/19)

POLL: This week’s Morning Consult poll of Democratic primary voters found former Vice President Joe Biden leading the field for President with support from 38% of those polled. He is followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (19%), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (11%), Mayor Pete Buttigieg (7%), and Sen. Kamala Harris (7%). (Morning Consult, 6/17/19)

POLL: An Economist/YouGov poll showed former Vice President Joe Biden leading the primary with 26% support followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (16%), Sen. Bernie Sanders (12%), Mayor Pete Buttigieg (9%), and Sen. Kamala Harris (7%). (YouGov, 6/20/19)


SENATE NATIONAL

The NRSC raised $4.8 million in May and has $11.3 million on hand. The DSCC, meanwhile, raised $4.5 million and has $13.1 million on hand. (Politico, 6/21/19)


SENATE ALABAMA

CBS News: “2020 U.S. Senate Race Heating Up In Alabama” (CBS News, 6/18/19)

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission regarding a potential U.S. Senate bid in the 2020 cycle. (Yellow Hammer, 6/18/19)

  • Roy Moore (R-AL), the Republican candidate who lost his special election to Democrat Doug Jones in 2017, announced that is running for the U.S. Senate again. (The New York Times, 6/20/19)

SENATE KENTUCKY

Mitch McConnell

A new Gravis Marketing poll showed Sen. Mitch McConnell leading former Lexington Mayor and 2016 Democratic Senate nominee Jim Gray 49% to 41%. (Gravis Marketing, 6/17/19)


SENATE MAINE

Sources told The Huffington Post that Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon (D-ME) is expected to formally announce in the coming weeks that she’s running for Republican Sen. Susan Collins’ seat in 2020. (The Huffington Post, 6/14/19)


SENATE NORTH CAROLINA

Democrat Cal Cunningham, a former state Senator who ran an unsuccessful primary campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2010, announced that he is running for the Democratic nomination to take on Sen. Thom Tillis in 2020. (The News & Observer, 6/17/19)

Eric Mansfield, also a former state Senator, launched his campaign for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. (The Morning Consult, 6/18/19)

SENATE SOUTH CAROLINA

A new Post & Courier/Change Research poll showed that 51% of respondents said they would vote for Sen. Lindsey Graham if the election were held today compared to 36% for the Democratic candidate. Another 12 percent said they were not sure. (Charleston Post & Courier, 6/17/19)


SENATE TENNESSEE

Former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam said he expects to decide “in the next two or three weeks” whether he will run in 2020 for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Republican Lamar Alexander. (Chattanooga Times Free Press, 6/17/19)


SENATE TEXAS

The Texas Tribune: “New Republican Group Wants To Register More Voters To Keep Texas Red” (The Texas Tribune, 6/17/19)


SENATE WYOMING

Former Wyoming GOP Rep. Cynthia Lummis on officially filed to run for outgoing Sen. Mike Enzi’s (R-WY) seat in 2020. (The Hill, 6/20/19)


HOUSE NATIONAL

The NRCC raised $4.9 million in May and has $20.5 million on hand while the DCCC raised $8.9 million and has $17.1 million on hand. (Politico, 6/21/19)


HOUSE CALIFORNIA

CA-45: Freshman Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), who narrowly flipped part of Republicans’ Southern California stronghold last year, said on Monday that she would support opening an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. (The New York Times, 6/17/19)

  • CA-45: Following her announcement, the NRCC began running a digital ad campaign targeting her for her position. (Real Clear Politics, 6/20/19)

IN-05: Four-term congresswoman Susan Brooks (R-IN) announced that she will not seek reelection next year. (USA Today, 6/14/19)

  • IN-05: Following Brooks’ announcement, race handicappers at Roll Call changed the rating of the race from “solid Republican” to “likely Republican.” (Roll Call, 6/14/19)

IN-05: “With Indiana’s Susan Brooks Bowing Out, Hoosiers Prepare For Tight Race In The 5th District” (The Indianapolis Star, 6/17/19)


HOUSE MAINE

ME-02: Former state Sen. Eric Brakey (R-ME) announced that he is exploring a run for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. (Portland Press Herald, 6/19/19)


HOUSE MICHIGAN

MI-03: Democrat Nick Colvin, an alum of former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign and the Obama White House, launched his bid for the seat currently held by Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI). (Politico, 6/19/19)

HOUSE MONTANA

Matt Rosendale

MT-AL: After previously announcing a bid for governor, Republican Secretary of State Corey Stapleton announced that he would instead run for the U.S. House seat being vacated by Rep. Greg Gianforte. (Helena Independent Record, 6/15/19)

MT-AL: Montana State Auditor Matt Rosendale (R-MT), who narrowly lost a Senate race last year, announced he will also run for the open at-large House seat. (The Hill, 6/17/19)

  • MT-AL: The Club for Growth endorsed Rosendale and released an ad attacking “costly Corey Stapleton.” (Politico, 6/19/19)


HOUSE NEW JERSEY

NJ-05: Montvale Mayor Michael Ghassali (R-NJ) announced his intention to run against Rep. Josh Gottheimer in 2020. (Northern Valley Press, 6/18/19)


HOUSE NEW YORK

NY-16: Justice Democrats, the group that helped elect Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), endorsed Jamaal Bowman’s primary campaign against longtime Rep. Eliot Engel. (BuzzFeed, 6/18/19)
