It was another week of competitive primaries, this week’s held in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Oregon. Democrats hurt their chances at winning a Nebraska congressional seat this week when liberal social worker Kara Eastman defeated former Rep. Brad Ashford (D-NE). Political prognosticators immediately moved the seat form “Toss Up” to “Leans Republican” after Eastman’s primary win. She will face Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) in November.
On the Senate side, Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) won his primary in Pennsylvania to challenge incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) in the general election. And a new poll shows businessman Mike Braun, who won the Indiana GOP primary last week, narrowly leading Sen. Joe Donnelly in Indiana.
