The special election in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District on Tuesday set the tone for the week, as Republicans and Democrats alike tried explaining what the razor-thin victory for Democrat Conor Lamb meant for the 2018 midterms.
In other news, a new poll showed Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL), who has not officially announced a Senate candidacy, leading incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) in a head-to-head match-up. Scott is expected to make an announcement about his plans after the Florida legislative session ends.
In Mississippi, Chris McDaniel announced he would drop his bid to challenge incumbent Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and instead run for the seat vacated by retiring Sen. Thad Cochran. McDaniel lost a primary challenge to Cochran in 2014.
And former Vice President Joe Biden made the rounds this week, endorsing candidates in New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
