Race Rundown: 03-02-18

March 2, 2018

AR Intel’s Race Rundown is your go-to source for the latest news and trends in political campaigns. Updated weekly, the Rundown tracks national news, Senate race updates, and developments in House races across the country.

Planned Parenthood announced an eight-state, $20 million ad campaign strategy backing Democrats and targeting Republicans in key 2018 midterm races. Meanwhile, the DNC announced it is targeting 50 million voters for 2018, but wouldn’t release details about how much money they’re putting into the voter contact effort.

A new poll shows a tight race in Florida between Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Rick Scott, should he jump in the Senate race. Former radio host and state senator Chris McDaniel announced he would challenge Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), and after waffling on the issue of retirement, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) decided he would call it quits in 2018.

On the House side, PA-18 is heating up with debates, fundraising numbers, and polls. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi publicly backed an unpopular Democrat incumbent in Illinois, and the DCCC attacked a Houston Democrat.
