Earlier this month, Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) claimed that Russian hackers had breached Florida’s election system and were “in Florida’s records.” When asked which records the Russians are accessing, Nelson snapped back, “That’s classified.”
Later, he told a reporter that Russians could be deleting names of registered voters from the rolls, thereby denying those citizens their right to vote.
The Washington Post blasted Nelson with a fact check, by NBC News’ Ken Dilanian pushed back, saying there’s no way of knowing if Nelson was right or wrong because the information was classified.
But on Tuesday, the FBI and DHS released a joint letter addressing the issue.
